Travel and Transport Chunks
Review core transport and journey chunks before adding disruption language.
ทบทวนวลีพื้นฐานเรื่องการเดินทางก่อนเพิ่มภาษาสำหรับเหตุขัดข้อง

Learn precise words and chunks, build a clear update and ask for the information you need next.
For learners: Learn precise status words, effect collocations and action questions so you can give a clear travel update when plans change.
For teachers: The lesson stabilises word families and collocations in three categories before requiring a status–effect–question message and one independent vocabulary performance.
Understand three groups of travel-disruption vocabulary and use at least six target words or chunks to give a clear update and ask one useful next question.
เข้าใจคำศัพท์เหตุขัดข้องในการเดินทางสามหมวด และใช้คำหรือวลีเป้าหมายอย่างน้อยหกรายการเพื่อรายงานสถานการณ์อย่างชัดเจนและถามข้อมูลถัดไปที่เป็นประโยชน์หนึ่งคำถาม
For the learner: Knowing only delay or problem is not enough. These word families and collocations help you state exactly what changed, explain the effect and ask for the right information.
For the teacher: Teach one lexical category at a time. Require accurate word form and collocation before the learner combines the categories into a travel update.
Use the same loop in each category: see the meaning → notice the word form or collocation → read the example → make a new sentence → retrieve it without the card.
| Time | Teacher does | Student does | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | Uses the disruption map to activate meaning. | Identifies one status and one possible effect. | Topic understood. |
| 3–9 | Teaches four status word families. | Chooses the correct noun or verb and builds examples. | Accurate word form. |
| 9–15 | Teaches four effect collocations. | Matches each effect to a disruption and uses it in a sentence. | Accurate collocation. |
| 15–20 | Models action words and information questions. | Chooses the question that fits the need. | Purposeful language choice. |
| 20–24 | Hides the cards and prompts the three categories. | Retrieves and builds a status–effect–question ladder. | Independent recall. |
| 24–27 | Provides one fictional disruption card. | Gives a short update using all three categories. | Connected vocabulary use. |
| 27–30 | Scores the first unsupported attempt and one retry. | Gives a final update with at least six targets. | VR/FP evidence. |
Look first. Do not study a long word list yet. Which travel problems can you see?
Accept pointing or a one-word answer. This is a topic preview, not a vocabulary test.
Optional visual support: Open the Meaning Map only if learners need a wider picture of status, effect and next question.

Contrast the noun and verb within a complete sentence. Do not ask the learner to memorise every family form before producing one accurate example.
These noun phrases explain the immediate result. Learn them as complete collocations, not as separate words.

Listen after learning the cards. Identify the status word and the effect chunk.
The six-ten service has been delayed by forty minutes. The revised departure time is six fifty.
Ask which complete phrase carried the meaning. Replay once, then require a new sentence with the same collocation and different details.
Choose language that helps the traveller act. The question should match the missing information.
What is the revised departure time?
Use after a delay or timetable change.
Your version: What is the revised ___ time?
Which platform does it leave from?
Use after a platform or gate change.
Your version: Which gate does ___ leave from?
Is there a replacement service?

Listen after learning the questions. Identify the status, effect and action question.
Our flight was cancelled, so we have missed the connection. Are there any alternative routes tonight?
1 What is the revised departure time? · 2 Is there a replacement service? · 3 Answers may include “Are there any alternative routes?”
Require the learner to explain why the selected question fits. This checks meaning without turning the stage into a long problem-solving task.
Hide the cards. Retrieve one item from each category, then connect them in a three-part message.
delay · cancellation · closure · disruption
revised time · platform change · missed connection · replacement service
new time? · which platform? · replacement? · alternative route?
The flight has been cancelled.
We have missed our connection.
Are there any alternative routes tonight?
Prompt with the category only. If needed, reveal a first letter or visual icon, then hide the support for the second attempt.
A delayed train, a cancelled flight, a road closure or another fictional disruption.
A new time, a new platform, a missed connection or a replacement service.
Use fictional details. Correct one word form or collocation, then ask the learner to reuse it immediately.
Your 18:20 train has been cancelled. A replacement bus leaves at 18:45 from Gate 6, but you may miss your connection.
Score the first unsupported performance, then score the focused retry separately.
Target: 3/4 overall with FP = 2 and no zero.
Do not add a new route-negotiation problem. This assessment checks vocabulary ownership: meaning, word form, collocation and connected use.
