Evidence, Feedback, and One Next Learning Step
Turn a learning record into one focused, measurable action.
Progress becomes useful when you can identify the evidence, choose one priority, and decide exactly what you will do next.
Why this lesson matters · เหตุผลที่เรียนบทนี้
For learners: Review learning evidence and feedback, choose one high-value next step, and define a measurable success signal plus fallback.
For teachers: The six-stage route separates evidence, feedback, decision, adaptation and independent final proof so learners justify a realistic development action.
Your goal
Review a learning record and spoken feedback, separate evidence from impressions, choose one high-value next step, and define a success signal plus fallback.
เป้าหมายภาษาไทย
ทบทวนหลักฐานการเรียนและคำแนะนำ แยกข้อเท็จจริงออกจากความรู้สึก เลือกสิ่งสำคัญหนึ่งเรื่อง แล้วกำหนดการลงมือทำ ตัวชี้วัดความสำเร็จ และแผนสำรอง
Why this lesson matters
- More study is not always better study; evidence helps you choose the right priority.
- A useful plan states what to do, when to do it, and how to know it worked.
- A fallback keeps progress possible when time or support changes.
Progress Focus · How to learn
Compare options and justify one priority.
State a measurable next step and fallback.
Teacher Lesson Plan · Read before class
| Time | Teacher does | Student does | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–4 | Reveals the learning record only. | Separates facts from impressions. | Four classified statements. |
| 4–9 | Plays Audio 1 once, then once more if needed. | Identifies strength, gap, and suggested action. | Three accurate notes. |
| 9–14 | Checks evidence without choosing for the learner. | Builds a complete evidence map. | Evidence-linked priority. |
| 14–19 | Challenges the learner to compare two options. | Chooses using impact and feasibility. | Reasoned decision. |
| 19–24 | Plays Audio 2 and introduces the time constraint. | Adapts the plan and adds a fallback. | Feasible revised action. |
| 24–30 | Removes models and scores independently. | Delivers the final recommendation. | EVD / DEC / ACT proof. |
1Read the learning record
Four tasks completed. Main idea correct in 3/4. Time and reason details correct in 2/4.
Opinion is usually clear. Examples are relevant in 2/4 recordings. Long pauses appear before examples.
“I feel that my vocabulary is probably the biggest problem.”
“You seem more confident than last month.”
- Label each statement: evidence or impression.
- Identify one verified strength and one recurring gap.
- State what additional evidence would make each impression stronger.
Teacher Help
Accept interpretations only when the learner points to a number, repeated result, or exact behavior. Ask “What in the record proves that?”
2Listen for feedback and priority
- Note the listening strength and recurring gap.
- Note the speaking strength and recurring gap.
- Write the coach’s suggested focus as one action.
- Record one exact number or phrase that supports it.
Check the key evidence
Listening main ideas: 3/4 accurate. Missing details: times and reasons. Speaking strength: clear opinions. Speaking gap: pauses before examples. Suggested focus: listen twice, note a reason and one detail, then give a 30-second summary three times this week.
Audio 1 transcript
Coach: Let’s look at your learning log. You completed four listening tasks this month. Your main ideas were accurate in three, but details about times and reasons were sometimes missing. Your speaking notes show that you can explain an opinion clearly, although you pause when you need examples. I suggest one focus: listen to a short recording twice, note the reason and one detail, then give a thirty-second summary. Do this three times this week.
Teacher Help
Play once without pausing. Allow one complete replay. Require one exact number and one exact behavior before opening the answer or transcript.
3Build the evidence map
What can the learner already do reliably?
Which pattern appears more than once?
What could make the plan difficult?
- Write one sentence for each box.
- Link every claim to the record or audio.
- Rank the two gaps by impact on communication.
- Choose the priority that can improve both listening and speaking.
Possible evidence map
Strength: main ideas and opinions are usually clear. Gap: reasons/details are missed in listening and examples cause pauses in speaking. Constraint: practice time is not yet known. Priority: retrieve a reason and one accurate detail, then summarise aloud.
Teacher Help
Do not accept “practise more” as a priority. The learner must name the missing performance and show how the evidence supports it.
4Compare two next-step options
10 new words daily; one example sentence per word.
Impact: broader vocabulary
Evidence fit: uncertain
Time: about 25 minutes daily
Short recording twice; note reason + detail; give a 30-second summary.
Impact: details and examples
Evidence fit: strong
Time: about 15 minutes, three times weekly
- Compare impact, evidence fit, and feasibility.
- Choose one option and reject the other for now.
- Give a three-part justification: “The evidence shows… This matters because… Therefore…”
Teacher Help
Either option is possible only with evidence. A strong answer prioritises the recurring details/examples gap and explains why the other option is lower priority now.
5Adapt the plan to a real constraint
- Identify the new time constraint.
- Record the chosen days, exact action, and success check.
- State the fallback if one session is missed.
- Explain why the plan still matches the evidence.
Check the adapted plan
Constraint: 15 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Action: listen for main idea, reason, and one detail, then record a summary. Success signal: three summaries contain all three elements. Fallback: complete a missed session on Saturday.
Audio 2 transcript
Learner: I can practise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but only for fifteen minutes. At first, I wanted to study new vocabulary every day. After reading the feedback, I think the better step is to practise listening details and then summarise. I will record three summaries and check whether each one includes the main idea, a reason, and one accurate detail. If I miss a session, I will do it on Saturday.
Teacher Help
Require all four parts: schedule, exact action, measurable success signal, and fallback. Avoid vague plans such as “listen more when I have time.”
6Final Practice · make the next-step decision
Use this new progress snapshot without reopening the model answers.
New evidence: Reading main ideas 4/4; supporting evidence 2/4. Discussion contributions are clear, but the learner rarely responds to a different view. Available time: two 20-minute sessions. No partner is available this week.
- State one strength and one recurring gap using exact evidence.
- Compare two reasonable next steps.
- Recommend one priority and justify why it has the strongest evidence fit.
- Give a schedule and exact practice action.
- Define a measurable success signal and a fallback that does not require a partner.
- Deliver the recommendation in 60–90 seconds without reading a model.
Teacher Help
Provide one neutral prompt only: “What evidence supports that?” Do not supply the priority, wording, schedule, success signal, or fallback before scoring.

0 · Not yet
Claims are vague or unsupported; no clear comparison; action cannot be checked.
1 · With support
Uses some evidence and a reasonable plan but needs prompts to compare, measure success, or add a fallback.
2 · Independent
Cites exact evidence, compares viable options, chooses a justified priority, and states a measurable action plus fallback.
