Listen for the main event, order key details and use what you hear to explain what happened.
For learners: Listen for a main event, reconstruct the sequence and respond from heard evidence.
For teachers: The lesson separates gist, ordered detail, evidence checking and useful response before a fresh final listen.
Identify the main event, order at least five details, explain the cause of one change and give a useful response from short spoken stories.
จับเหตุการณ์หลัก เรียงรายละเอียดอย่างน้อยห้าจุด อธิบายสาเหตุของการเปลี่ยนแปลงหนึ่งจุด และตอบสนองจากเรื่องที่ฟังได้
For the learner: Real stories do not always arrive in neat order. Listening for gist, sequence markers and cause helps you reconstruct what happened.
For the teacher: The route separates gist, ordered detail, evidence checking and response before a fresh unsupported listening performance.
เหตุผลภาษาไทย: ผู้เรียนแยกใจความ ลำดับเหตุการณ์ หลักฐาน และการตอบสนอง เพื่อไม่พยายามจดทุกคำ
Use no more than two plays before checking. Ask for gist first, then ordered detail. Do not let the transcript replace listening.
| Time | Teacher does | Student does | Required evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | Frames the listening purpose. | Predicts useful event information. | A listening focus. |
| 3–7 | Plays Story 1 once. | Chooses gist only. | GIST evidence. |
| 7–12 | Replays once. | Orders five events. | SEQ evidence. |
| 12–16 | Opens transcript after answers. | Checks and corrects with words heard. | Evidence-based correction. |
| 16–20 | Plays Story 2 twice. | Notes difference and cause. | A second account. |
| 20–24 | Prompts one useful response. | Explains what to say or do next. | ACT evidence. |
| 24–30 | Runs a fresh combined task and scores. | Listens, reconstructs and responds. | GIST/SEQ/ACT. |
Mina planned to meet a friend at a café, but one unexpected event changed the plan.
Accept predictions without confirming them. The purpose is to activate event categories, not guess the exact story.
Mina was meeting her friend Leo at a café at six. She left work at five thirty and walked to the train station. Just before she reached the platform, she noticed that her wallet was missing. She went back to the office and found it under her desk. Then she sent Leo a message and took the next train. She arrived twenty minutes late, but Leo had ordered tea and waited for her.
Play once only. Ask for the event and ending, not every detail.
| Event card | Order 1–6 | Words heard |
|---|---|---|
| Mina found the wallet. | ||
| She planned to meet Leo. | ||
| She noticed the wallet was missing. | ||
| Leo waited with tea. | ||
| She returned to the office. | ||
| She sent a message. |
Correct order: meet plan, missing wallet, return, find, message, Leo waits. Require one cause statement, not only numbers.
Ask “Which words prove that?” Keep the evidence tied to the audio, then close the transcript again.
Leo arrived at the café at five fifty. He chose a table and ordered tea. At six, Mina was not there, so he checked his phone. Her message said that she had lost her wallet and would take the next train. Leo replied that he could wait. When Mina arrived at six twenty, they changed their dinner plan because the café kitchen was closing soon.
Play twice. Shared: message/delay/arrival. Leo-only: table, tea, reply or changed dinner plan.
Confirm the cause, apologise or reassure, and state the next plan.
Acknowledge waiting and confirm the changed dinner plan.
Reject invented causes. The response should use the wallet, delay, café closing or next plan accurately.
Read twice: “Ben planned to take a morning bus to a job interview. First, he checked the address and left early. At the station, the ticket machine did not accept his card. A staff member showed him another machine, but the bus had already left. Ben called the company, explained the delay and took a taxi. He arrived ten minutes late, and the interviewer thanked him for calling.”
Score the first unsupported performance, then the focused retry separately.
Target: 5/6 overall with ACT = 2 and no zero.
Read naturally twice. Score before feedback, give one evidence correction, then repeat only the weakest question.
GIST = เรื่องหลัก, SEQ = ลำดับเหตุการณ์, ACT = การตอบสนองจากข้อมูลที่ฟัง ให้เปิด transcript หลังพยายามฟังและตอบแล้วเท่านั้น
