1. Choose an everyday journey

3 min
STUDENT TASK
  1. Choose one familiar starting place: home, school, work or a station.
  2. Choose one destination.
  3. Choose a time for the journey.
  4. Say: “I go from ___ to ___.”
You are ready whenYou have a start, a destination and a time.
Teacher Help

Accept a real or fictional journey. Do not ask for a home address; a general place such as home, school or Central Station is enough.

2. Organise the new vocabulary

5 min
Word groupTarget languageUse it
Transport · nounsbus, train, taxi, ferry, bikeIt is a bus. / I take the train.
Journey actions · verbstake, leave, arrive, get on, get offI get on the bus. / We arrive at nine.

  2. Choose three journey actions.
  3. Build one place chunk and one time chunk.
  4. Make one short sentence from every word group.

Check meaning through the cover or a quick gesture. Teach take the bus but go by bus as complete chunks; do not turn this stage into isolated translation.

3. Hear the words in a journey

4 min
Example 1 · British English · Emma
Transcript · open after the task

I take the bus to work. It leaves from Central Station at eight o’clock and arrives at Riverside at eight twenty.

  2. Name the transport in each journey.
  3. Say the two starting places and two destinations.

Teacher Help

Play each track once for meaning and once for checking. Keep the transcripts closed until the learner has attempted transport, place and time.

4. Retrieve the words

4 min
STUDENT TASK
  1. Cover the vocabulary table.
  2. Teacher says: transport, action, place or time.

You are ready whenYou retrieve at least eight items without reading the table.

Give the word group, a gesture or the first sound—not the full answer. Hide the support again immediately after successful recall.

5. Build complete journey sentences

4 min

Final Practice evidence

VR · Vocabulary RangeUses suitable transport words and journey chunks accurately in an original message.
FP · Functional PerformanceGives the start, destination, transport and time clearly without a supplied sentence.

Teacher scoring guide

Score the first unsupported message, then score the focused retry separately.

0 · Not yetThe criterion is not demonstrated after one clear prompt.
1 · With supportThe criterion is partly demonstrated or needs a supplied word or frame.
2 · IndependentThe criterion is clear without a model or supplied key sentence. Natural A1 hesitation is acceptable.

Target: 3/4 overall with FP = 2 and no zero.

The lesson is complete whenYou give and update the new journey details without reading a model.
Teacher Help · scoring and retry

Score the first unsupported message before feedback. Give one vocabulary or chunk correction, then rerun only the weakest sentence with less support.
