Listening: Follow a Simple Budget and Check the Amounts
Listen for amounts and one affordable action.

See the meaning, learn the word pattern and build your own money sentences.
For learners: Build the everyday money words needed before listening to amounts and explaining budget choices.
For teachers: Vocabulary is grouped by word function, recycled in audio and true sentences, then retrieved in an independent plan.
สำหรับผู้เรียน: สร้างคำศัพท์พื้นฐานเรื่องเงินก่อนฝึกฟังตัวเลขและอธิบายการเลือกใช้งบ
สำหรับครู: จัดคำตามหน้าที่ นำกลับมาใช้ในเสียงและประโยคจริง แล้วดึงมาใช้ในแผนอิสระ
Understand four groups of money words and use at least five target words in your own sentences about one purchase and one saving goal.
เข้าใจคำศัพท์เรื่องเงินสี่หมวด และใช้คำเป้าหมายอย่างน้อยห้าคำแต่งประโยคของตนเองเกี่ยวกับของที่ต้องการซื้อหนึ่งอย่างและเป้าหมายการออมหนึ่งอย่าง
For the learner: You will not only recognise the words. You will practise the pattern after every word group and make sentences that are true for you.
For the teacher: Teach one category at a time. Do not combine the categories until the learner can produce one sentence from each group.
Use the same loop in every category: see the meaning → say the word → notice the pattern → read the example → make a new sentence.
| Time | Teacher does | Student does | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | Uses the picture board to activate the topic. | Names or points to familiar money ideas. | Topic understood. |
| 3–8 | Teaches four money nouns with examples. | Completes one noun sentence. | Meaning and noun use. |
| 8–14 | Contrasts the four verb patterns. | Builds one sentence with each verb. | Correct verb pattern. |
| 14–19 | Models two contrasts and one exchange. | Describes a price and asks a question. | Accurate description and chunk. |
| 19–24 | Hides the cards and prompts retrieval. | Retrieves words and rebuilds sentences. | Independent recall. |
| 24–27 | Sets a short personal or fictional prompt. | Combines one word from each category. | Connected vocabulary use. |
| 27–30 | Scores the first unsupported attempt. | Gives and retries a five-sentence message. | VR/FP evidence. |
Look first. Do not study a long word list yet. What money ideas can you see?
Accept pointing or a one-word answer. This is a topic preview, not a vocabulary test.
A noun names a thing or an idea. Learn the meaning, then complete the sentence below each word.
how much money something costs
Example: The price is 80 baht.
the price of + thing
Your sentence: The price of ___ is ___ baht.
money in notes and coins
Example: I pay in cash.
pay in cash
Your sentence: I pay for ___ in cash.
money you get back after you pay
Example: Here is your change.
get / give change
Your sentence: I get ___ baht change.
something you want to have or do
Example: My goal is a new bag.
my goal is + thing
Your sentence: My goal is ___.
1 price · 2 change · 3 answers will vary.
Do not continue until the learner can explain or show the difference between price, cash and change, then produce one noun sentence.
A verb shows an action. Notice the words that come after each verb; the four patterns are different.
have a particular price
Example: The ticket costs 50 baht.
thing + costs + amount
Your sentence: The ___ costs ___ baht.
give money for something
Example: I pay 50 baht for the ticket.
pay + amount + for + thing
Your sentence: I pay ___ baht for ___.
use money to buy or do something
Example: I spend 80 baht on lunch.
spend + amount + on + thing
Your sentence: I spend ___ baht on ___.
keep money for something later
Example: I save 50 baht for a bag.
save + amount + for + goal
Your sentence: I save ___ baht for ___.
1 costs · 2 on · 3 answers will vary.
Listen after learning the cards. Point to cost and spend when you hear them.
Model the pattern, then change only the item or amount. Require one original sentence before moving to the next verb.
Use describing words to show your view of a price. Then use the question and answer together.
Use these words to describe a price.
Examples: The bus ticket is cheap. The phone is expensive.
Your sentence: The ___ is cheap / expensive.
Use these phrases to compare the money you have with the price.
Examples: I have enough money. I do not have enough money.
Your sentence: I have / do not have enough money for ___.
A: How much is the notebook?
B: It costs 120 baht.
A: Is that cheap or expensive for you?
B: It is ___ for me.
Accept different opinions about cheap and expensive. Check the sentence form, not the learner’s financial choice.
Now hide the cards. Retrieve the words before you combine them.
Prompt with a picture or first letter, not a complete sentence. Correct one pattern and ask for immediate reuse.
Choose an item and a price. Decide if it is cheap or expensive for you.
Choose something you want later and an amount you can save.
Fictional information is welcome. Check that the learner chooses and uses the target words, not whether the plan is financially realistic.
Talk about one item you may buy and one thing you want to save for.
Score the first unsupported performance, then score the focused retry separately.
Target: 3/4 overall with FP = 2 and no zero.
Do not add a new price constraint. This assessment checks vocabulary ownership: meaning, word choice and sentence pattern.
