1 · Build meaning

Choose the future checkpoint

Future perfect milestone map showing now actions future deadline completed results and risk response
Use the visual to notice, practise, and communicate.

Use a launch, event, exam, or travel plan. Put four milestones before a clearly stated deadline.

How to run Stage 1

3 min: Establish one future checkpoint and four milestones.

2 · Notice the pattern

Build will have plus the past participle

Practise affirmative, negative, and question forms. Keep the completed result visible at the future checkpoint.

How to run Stage 2

5 min: Build future-perfect statements, negatives, and questions.

3 · Control the time link

Use by and by the time accurately

Engduo Audio: Listen for meaning first. Audio never starts automatically.

Engduo Audio • British English

Identify the checkpoint, completed deliverables, and remaining risk.

Engduo Audio • American English

Track each deadline, expected completed result, and limitation.

Contrast by Friday with until Friday. After by the time, use a present form to refer to the future: by the time the client arrives.

How to run Stage 3

5 min: Contrast by, until, and by-the-time clauses.

4 · Listen and track delivery

Recover milestones, risks, and limits

Listen to both plans. Record what will be complete, by when, what may remain incomplete, and why.

How to run Stage 4

6 min: Play both plans and map deliverables, deadlines, and risks.

5 · Communicate

Run a milestone negotiation

Present four future deliverables. Use three future-perfect forms, one accurate by-the-time clause, one risk, and an adjusted commitment that both speakers accept.

How to run Stage 5

7 min: Run the milestone negotiation and adjusted commitment.

Final practice: Confirm what will have been completed by a future checkpoint

Task: Give a deadline briefing with four milestones, three future-perfect forms, one by-the-time clause, one risk, and one negotiated adjustment.

Success: Every completion is anchored to a future checkpoint and the adjusted commitment is both grammatical and operationally realistic.

LC · Language Control

0 Frequent form problems obscure the intended meaning.

1 Meaning remains clear with some prompting or self-correction.

2 Controls will have + past participle and distinguishes by-completion from until-continuation.

FP · Functional Performance

0 Does not yet complete the communication outcome.

1 Completes most of the outcome with visible prompts.

2 Communicates milestones, risk, and an adjusted deadline commitment independently.

How to run Stage 6

4 min: Score LC and FP, repair one checkpoint or form issue, and retry the commitment.
