Give a clear account of a minor safe incident, separate facts from guesses and explain one sensible next step.
For learners: Give a clear factual account of a minor incident and explain one sensible next step.
For teachers: The lesson keeps scenarios low risk, separates fact, possibility and unknown information, then builds a five-part account, factual follow-up and adaptation after one new fact.
Give a 45–60 second account of a minor safe incident with what happened, where and when, the current situation and one sensible next step; answer one factual follow-up without reading a script.
For learners: A clear incident account helps another person understand the facts and decide what information or practical action is needed next.
For teachers: The lesson keeps the topic low risk, separates fact from assumption and assesses a structured spoken account rather than a roleplay.
This is a Guided Speaking lesson, not a reading lesson. Keep examples visible only long enough for the learner to select useful language. Accept clear A2 language, correct after a speaking round and keep learner talk time above 70%.
| Time | Teacher does | Student does | Required result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | Keep the scenario minor and safe. Do not simulate emergency dispatch or medical advice. | Choose one incident. Name the place and approximate time. | You have three factual keywords and no invented cause. |
| 3–8 | Do not teach technical emergency response. Keep next steps within notifying responsible staff and preventing ordinary access to the minor hazard. | Choose one event frame. Choose one fact and one uncertainty phrase. | Your language makes facts and uncertainty easy to distinguish. |
| 8–12 | Correct unsupported certainty immediately but briefly. Ask “Did you see that, or is it possible?” | Classify three teacher statements. Change one strong guess into a careful possibility. | The listener knows what is confirmed and what is not. |
| 12–17 | Prompt with the five labels only. Hide the model before continuous speech. | State where and when. Explain what happened or was noticed. | The listener can repeat the facts and the next step. |
| 17–21 | Ask only factual clarification questions. Do not turn the activity into a two-role service scenario. | Give the five-part account. Answer two short factual questions. | Your facts stay consistent across the answers. |
| 21–27 | Reveal one fact only. Ask the learner to say “Earlier I said…, but now…” if correction language is needed. | Receive one new fact. State what remains the same. | The updated account is accurate and internally consistent. |
| 27–30 | Score clarity and factual control. If a real emergency is mentioned, stop the lesson simulation and follow appropriate local procedures. | Use a teacher-assigned safe incident. Speak for 45–60 seconds with all five parts. | The listener can identify the facts, unknown information and next step. |
Use a fictional or low-risk situation. For a real emergency, follow local emergency procedures instead of this lesson.
Keep the scenario minor and safe. Do not simulate emergency dispatch or medical advice.
Choose language for facts, uncertainty, current status and next step.
Do not teach technical emergency response. Keep next steps within notifying responsible staff and preventing ordinary access to the minor hazard.
A clear account labels what is known and unknown.
| Type | Example | How to say it |
|---|---|---|
| Fact | The floor is wet. | I can see / I noticed … |
| Careful possibility | A bottle may have leaked. | It appears to / It might … |
| Unknown | Who caused it? | I do not know yet whether / who … |
Correct unsupported certainty immediately but briefly. Ask “Did you see that, or is it possible?”
Use keywords: time/place → event → visible facts → current status → next step.
Prompt with the five labels only. Hide the model before continuous speech.
This remains a structured report, not a roleplay.
Ask only factual clarification questions. Do not turn the activity into a two-role service scenario.
Keep the incident but revise the account after new information.
Reveal one fact only. Ask the learner to say “Earlier I said…, but now…” if correction language is needed.
Give a fresh minor-incident account independently.
Score the independent Final Practice—not supported practice. Give one score for each Progress Focus.
Use the lowest focus as the retry target. Keep the first score and record the short retry separately.
Score clarity and factual control. If a real emergency is mentioned, stop the lesson simulation and follow appropriate local procedures.
