Hear the target feature

Numbers, dates and figures must be intelligible on the first hearing because a small sound difference can change a business action.

Notice the sound pattern

Contrast: thirteen / thirty; fifteen / fifty; fourteen / forty.
Chunk: The revised total is THIRteen thousand, due on THURSday the THIRtieth.

Use the feature in meaningful chunks

Learner does: Hear and identify ten minimal number contrasts.

Use keywords only. Change names, figures, reasons and actions so the message is yours.

Give prompts or keywords, not a full script. Require the learner to make the content true for the situation.

Deliver a workplace message

  1. Read figures in complete business chunks, not isolated digits only.
  2. Dictate an order total, date and percentage; repair any misunderstanding.

Retry rule: after feedback, repeat the weakest part with one changed condition.

Take the other role or act as the reader. Change one realistic fact after the first attempt and delay correction until the message is complete.

Final pronunciation task · prove intelligibility

Deliver six mixed figures in a 45-second update. The listener must record every number and date correctly after one hearing.

Success: complete the task independently and make the listener’s next action or understanding clear.
