Set the reading purpose

Read a presentation outline as an audience journey. Check whether purpose, evidence, transitions and final decision request are visible.

Weak outline: background → three charts → staffing → costs → conclusion.
Improved: decision needed → response-time trend → cause → two staffing options → cost/risk comparison → recommendation and ask.

Find and connect evidence

Interpret the evidence

Learner does: Label the job of every section in the weak outline.

Use keywords only. Change names, figures, reasons and actions so the message is yours.

Give prompts or keywords, not a full script. Require the learner to make the content true for the situation.

Discuss the workplace decision

  1. Remove or move evidence that does not support the decision.
  2. Explain why the revised order is easier for the audience.

Retry rule: after feedback, repeat the weakest part with one changed condition.

Take the other role or act as the reader. Change one realistic fact after the first attempt and delay correction until the message is complete.

Final reading response · justify a recommendation

Evaluate a new outline and present a revised six-part audience journey with two evidence-based reasons for the changes.

Success: complete the task independently and make the listener’s next action or understanding clear.
