Order and answer
Ask for food or drinks and answer one simple detail question.
Roleplay · A1 Core → A2 Bridge
Complete a real café order: order two items, answer a detail question, listen to the repeated order, and confirm or correct it.
By the end of this lesson, you can complete a café order from opening to confirmation and politely repair one incorrect detail.
ช่วง A1 Core นักเรียนจะสั่งอาหารหรือเครื่องดื่มและตอบคำถามเพิ่มเติมได้ ส่วน A2 Bridge จะฝึกฟังการทวนรายการและแก้ข้อมูลที่ผิดอย่างสุภาพ เพื่อให้เห็นขั้นพัฒนาถัดไปอย่างชัดเจน
Ask for food or drinks and answer one simple detail question.
Listen to the repeated order and notice whether an important detail matches.
State what is wrong and correct the detail using a short polite phrase.
Roleplay standard: Teach the conversation moves, not a script. Complete one supported round, change one condition, switch roles and finish with an independent round.
Teacher: Set the roles, goal and required final result.
Student: Chooses a role and identifies what must be achieved.
Required result: A shared roleplay goal.
Teacher: Elicit the five conversation moves.
Student: Chooses useful phrases for the role.
Required result: A small phrase bank.
Teacher: Play the model and check important details.
Student: Listens for order, check and confirmation.
Required result: A clear interaction map.
Teacher: Run one supported roleplay without interrupting.
Student: Completes the interaction with visible support.
Required result: One complete first attempt.
Teacher: Change one detail and switch roles.
Student: Repairs the new problem and responds naturally.
Required result: Flexible use, not memorisation.
Teacher: Remove the script and score the final round.
Student: Completes the roleplay independently.
Required result: A correct and confirmed outcome.
Feedback rule: Let the learner complete the attempt first. Give one communication or task-success point and one language improvement, then run a short retry.
The exact words can change, but a successful café order usually follows this path.
The customer chooses a medium iced tea.
Practise complete phrases so you can concentrate on listening and responding during the roleplay.
Could I have ______, please?
I’d like ______.
Medium, please.
That’s right.
Sorry, I ordered ______.
What can I get for you?
What size would you like?
Anything else?
So that’s ______.
Thank you for checking.
Choose one item and size from the role cards. Keep the five conversation moves visible during the first round.

Good roleplay practice includes listening when the other person repeats information—not only saying a prepared order.
Listen: Which detail is wrong?
Answer: B. The coffee size is wrong.
Polite repair: Sorry, I ordered ______. / Sorry, I asked for ______.
Use the role cards and phrase bank. The server asks one detail question.
One item is unavailable. The customer chooses an alternative.
The server repeats one detail incorrectly. The customer repairs it politely.
The learner performs both customer and server roles at least once.
Use the whole conversation without a model. This shows whether you can listen, respond, and finish the real task before receiving one focused correction and trying again.
Task: Order two items, answer one size or preference question, listen to the repeated order, and confirm or correct it.
Success: The interaction reaches a correct final order without the teacher supplying a complete sentence.
1 Needs the teacher to start or lead most conversation moves.
2 Responds and completes the sequence with visible prompts or one reminder.
3 Responds and completes all five moves without the teacher managing the turns.
1 The final order is incomplete or contains an unresolved wrong detail.
2 Reaches the correct final order, but the confirmation or repair is partial or unclear.
3 Reaches the correct final order and confirms or repairs the important detail clearly.
จำเป้าหมายของบทสนทนา 5 ขั้น: เริ่มบทสนทนา → สั่ง → ตอบรายละเอียด → ฟังการทวน → ยืนยันหรือแก้ไข หากรายการไม่ถูกต้อง ใช้ Sorry, I ordered … หรือ Sorry, I asked for … เพื่อแก้อย่างสุภาพ ไม่จำเป็นต้องพูดยาว
Practise another everyday interaction with clarification and confirmation.
Progress to describing a problem and agreeing on a solution.
