30-minute lesson route
Decide whether the plan already exists
Use going to: the speaker has an intention or has made a decision before speaking.

I’m going to visit my aunt on Saturday.
Maybe I’ll stay home. I’m not sure.
How to run Stage 1
3 min: Give three examples and let the learner identify decided plans versus undecided possibilities.
Build be going to + base verb
Listen for the form that changes with the subject.
Engduo Audio: Listen for meaning first. Audio never starts automatically.
Listen for the intention and the two activities already decided.
Listen for the question, negative answer, reason, and replacement plan.
She is going to drive.
How to run Stage 2
5 min: Play both models and build the be going to + base-verb pattern.
Ask and answer about the plan
| Purpose | Pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Ask | Be + subject + going to + verb? | Are you going to drive? |
| Say yes | Subject + be + going to + verb | Yes. I’m going to drive. |
| Say no and replace | Subject + be not + going to + verb | No. I’m not going to drive. I’m going to take the train. |
How to run Stage 3
5 min: Practise one question, one positive answer, and one negative answer with a replacement.
Prepare one real plan
- When: This ______, I’m going to ______.
- Detail: I’m going to ______ with ______.
- Reason: I’m going to do this because ______.
- Question: What are you going to do?
Prepare key words only, then speak without reading full sentences.
How to run Stage 4
6 min: Prepare one real plan with when, who, and a reason using key words only.
Build a three-step shared plan
Choose one free or low-cost day. Ask about ideas, explain one constraint, and agree on three actions.
Required: two going to statements, two plan questions, one negative plan with a replacement, and the sequence first → then → finally.
How to run Stage 5
7 min: Negotiate a shared three-step plan without interruption.
Final practice: Agree on a practical plan
Task: Explain one real intention, ask two questions about your partner’s plan, and agree on a shared plan with three actions in sequence.
Success: The learner uses the correct form of be, keeps the main verb in the base form, and reaches a shared plan without teacher-supplied sentences.
