1 · Diagnose

Build the past-to-present problem

A2 integrated communication route from past problem through comparison and future plan to advice
Use the visual to notice, practise, and communicate.

Choose one realistic event, trip, study, or workplace problem. State what happened, what was in progress, and what the situation is now.

How to run Stage 1

3 min: Select one realistic scenario and collect the essential facts.

2 · Compare

Evaluate options and resources

Use two comparative or superlative forms and two useful amount expressions. Make each comparison relevant to the stated need.

How to run Stage 2

5 min: Build the past event, background, and present situation.

3 · Plan

Separate decision, intention, and arrangement

Engduo Audio: Listen for meaning first. Audio never starts automatically.

Engduo Audio • American English

Map the past event, background action, resources, comparison, and preferred option.

Engduo Audio • British English

Track the decision, immediate action, arrangement, obligation, and advice.

Use will for a decision made now, going to for an earlier intention, or present continuous for a fixed arrangement. Add one obligation and one piece of advice.

How to run Stage 3

5 min: Compare options and quantify the available resources.

4 · Listen and map

Recover the complete problem-to-plan route

Listen to both recordings. Map past problem, present resources, options, decision, arrangement, obligation, and advice. Retell from the map without reading the script.

How to run Stage 4

6 min: Play both recordings and map the complete communication route.

5 · Communicate

Complete the integrated conversation

Speak for two minutes with a partner. Establish the problem, compare at least two options, agree on a plan, state one obligation, give one piece of advice, and answer two follow-up questions.

How to run Stage 5

7 min: Run the two-minute problem-to-plan conversation with two follow-up questions.

Final practice: Solve a practical problem with A2 grammar

Task: Complete a two-minute conversation that tells the problem, compares options, agrees on future action, states one obligation, gives one piece of advice, and answers two follow-up questions.

Success: Grammar choices match their communication jobs and the conversation reaches a clear, workable plan without sentence-level prompting.

LC · Language Control

0 Frequent form problems obscure the intended meaning.

1 Meaning remains clear with some prompting or self-correction.

2 Controls the selected A2 past, comparison, quantity, future, obligation, and advice patterns well enough to keep meaning clear.

FP · Functional Performance

0 Does not yet complete the communication outcome.

1 Completes most of the outcome with visible prompts.

2 Completes the full problem-to-plan outcome and responds to two follow-up questions independently.

How to run Stage 6

4 min: Score LC and FP, target one weak grammar choice, and repeat the affected section.
