Understand the workplace outcome

You introduce yourself to a new colleague, a potential client or a senior manager. Each listener needs different detail.

Learner does: explain the listener, purpose and successful outcome in your own words.

Study the model exchange

Colleague: I coordinate product launches and help the sales and support teams stay aligned.
Client: I work with new clients to make implementation smoother and reduce early-stage problems.
Manager: I lead the onboarding process and track the issues that affect adoption and retention.
Learner does: identify the job of each part of the model before borrowing any language.

Use the model once for meaning. Ask what each part achieves; do not turn the model into a long read-aloud exercise.

Guided role play

Learner does: Introduce yourself to a new colleague.

Use keywords only. Change names, figures, reasons and actions so the message is yours.

Give prompts or keywords, not a full script. Require the learner to make the content true for the situation.

Change one condition and respond

  1. Adapt the same facts for a client.
  2. Give a 30-second version for a busy manager.

Retry rule: after feedback, repeat the weakest part with one changed condition.

Take the other role or act as the reader. Change one realistic fact after the first attempt and delay correction until the message is complete.

Final role play · prove the skill

Deliver two contrasting introductions and answer one unscripted question after each.

Success: complete the task independently and make the listener’s next action or understanding clear.
