30-minute lesson route
Classify decision or prediction

Use short situations. Decide whether the speaker needs to react now or give an opinion about a future result. Do not choose the form before the purpose.
How to run Stage 1
3 min: Sort four examples into decision made now or prediction.
Use will for a choice made now
New information: The room is cold. Immediate decision: I’ll close the window. Negative decision: I won’t open it again. Keep the base verb after will.
How to run Stage 2
5 min: Build will/won’t responses to new practical information.
Add opinion and support
Engduo Audio: Listen for meaning first. Audio never starts automatically.
Listen for the new information and the decision made in response.
Listen for the opinion, prediction, and supporting reason.
Use I think, probably, maybe, or I’m sure with will/won’t. Add one reason: I think the event will be busy because many people have registered.
How to run Stage 3
5 min: Add opinion markers and reasons to simple predictions.
Separate the two meanings
Listen to both exchanges. Mark each will sentence as decision or prediction and identify the information or opinion that supports it.
How to run Stage 4
6 min: Play both exchanges and classify every will sentence.
Respond to problems and predict results
Respond to three new practical situations with immediate decisions. Then make two predictions about the results and support each with a reason.
How to run Stage 5
7 min: Run three decision prompts and two supported predictions.
Final practice: Make decisions now and predict what will happen
Task: Respond to three new situations with will/won’t decisions and make two opinion-based predictions with one reason each.
